About Bitely
Bitely is a personal wellness calorie and nutrition diary. You set height, weight, age, activity, and a goal; the app estimates a daily calorie and macro target; then you log meals, water, and activity. You can search a food catalog or scan a packaged-food barcode.
Bitely does not provide meal plans, recipes, coaching, medical treatment, or Apple Health (HealthKit) sync in this version. All figures are wellness estimates, not a diagnosis.
How Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a commonly used measurement that estimates body weight in relation to height. It helps determine whether an individual’s weight falls within a healthy range.
It is a simple ratio of weight to height and is shown as context only. Bitely is not a clinical assessment tool.
Understanding your TDEE
Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) represents the total amount of calories your body burns in a day through essential body functions, daily activities, and exercise.
Understanding your calorie expenditure helps you make informed decisions about calorie intake for weight loss, weight maintenance, or muscle gain.
What is BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) represents the number of calories your body requires at rest to perform essential functions such as breathing, circulation, and maintaining body temperature.
Bitely uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation:
Men: BMR = 10 × Weight (kg) + 6.25 × Height (cm) − 5 × Age + 5
Bitely personalized health goals
Bitely creates customized calorie recommendations and nutrition goals based on your lifestyle, personal profile, and wellness objectives.
1. Calorie goals
Bitely calculates personalized calorie targets using your Basal Metabolic Rate and healthy calorie adjustments designed for sustainable progress. Balanced calorie planning helps maintain energy levels while supporting long-term results.
Gain weight ≈ TDEE + 300 kcal
Maintain ≈ TDEE
2. Nutrition goals
Balanced nutrition is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Bitely provides customized nutritional recommendations based on individual calorie requirements and personal health goals.
Diet styles and macro splits
During setup you can pick a diet style. Bitely uses that choice only to split your estimated daily calories into protein, carbohydrate, and fat targets. It does not generate a menu, grocery list, or recipe plan.
What is the 211 diet method?
The 211 Method is based on healthy plate principles. Divide your meal into four equal sections: two portions of vegetables, one portion of protein, and one portion of carbohydrates.
This method simplifies meal planning and promotes balanced nutrition.
Protein in the diary
Protein is one of the three macros Bitely tracks when you log food. Higher-protein targets are an optional diet-style split, not a medical prescription.
Blood sugar (not measured by Bitely)
Bitely does not measure glucose, does not connect to CGMs, and does not treat diabetes. Any general notes about energy and eating patterns are educational only.
